Today in the Law School Insider we explore the process of going to law school as both a Non-Traditional adult student and as an international student.
Today, I spoke with Ms. Hali Adair, an Associate Attorney of
Horner and Pietersma in Morrisburg, Ontario. Hali is a graduate of
Cooley Law School and she practices in areas of Criminal Law, Family Law, and Real Estate matters.
Hali has a unique perspective on attending law school as she spent the next 22 years working for the Ontario Provincial Police. Her work as a police officer resulted in her exposure to traffic enforcement, undercover operations, fraud investigation, and intelligence work as well as some of the not-so glamorous issues. It was some of these latter concerns that brought her to attending law school and which now assists her in her criminal defense practice.
Hali spoke to us about the importance of involvement while in law school as well as some of the concerns and challenges that students that may be career-changers or that may be international students may face. One of the pieces of advice that I will share with all international students is making sure to look for International Law Student Guide at the schools that you are considering as this will walk you through the entire process of being a student at that school.
