Despite incredible challenges to start 2021, WMU-Cooley Law School continues to look forward to the future with hope and confidence in each other.

P.S. WMU-Cooley is hosting the ABA Regional Client Counseling Competition, which will be held virtually on Saturday, February 13th. We still need judges for the preliminary rounds in the morning from 8:30 am to 12:30 p.m. If you are able to participate as a judge, please contact me at haesslyh@cooley.edu with your interest and I can get you signed up.

ACCESS TO JUSTICE SPEAKS IN ART

Assistant Dean of Admissions Stephanie Gregg may have retired from WMU-Cooley in 2012 after 25 years of service, but her heart continues to support the law school's historic equal access to justice mission through her talent as a local artist and advocate. In creating art she finds an outlet to express her feelings that needs no words.

TWO DESERVING DAA WINNERS   

The 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Amy Rombyer Tripp (Blair Moody Class, 1996) and Karen Truszkowski (Richard H. Flannigan Class, 1999). The coveted award is presented at the annual meeting of the WMU-Cooley Alumni Association, and this past year, the virtual ceremony was held on November 19, 2020. Recipients are chosen by the Past President's Committee of the Alumni Association and awarded annually.

The Hon. Thomas E. Brennan has been called one of the most important innovators in legal education. His legacy reaches far beyond the founding of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. It can be seen rippling through the lives of more than 20,000 graduates. We honor him on Founders Day, Jan.12.

On January 6, while rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, WMU-Cooley Law School professors began answering calls from media outlets around the country regarding what could be considered both a criminal display of force and a violation of the Constitution.
